I absolutely adored Nicole & Jamie’s wedding. Having never met me in person, these two hired me on the spot after a 20 minute Skype session and a positive recommendation from Jamie’s sister, Jen. We clicked immediately and from that moment on, working with these two extremely awesome humans was a delight!

Jamie and Nicole are both extremely dedicated, driven individuals. Through med school and volunteering, these two manage to stay grounded and know how to have a great time! Their ceremony included readings from their friends and family and even their family formals were a blast (weird faces and all). I wish every wedding could be as rambunctious as this costume reception.

The story of how these Martins came to be goes like this: Each year in early spring, a beer festival is held at the Nationals baseball stadium in Washington, DC. In attendance, Nicole and her friend, Lindsay, staked their claim at the Abita Beer tent, reminiscing about grad school in New Orleans. Jamie and his friends also headed to the festival to celebrate the visit of his close friend, Mikey B. A few hours (and beers) into the celebration, Jamie’s friends had coincidentally come across an industrial roll of saran wrap. Naturally, they were running around random groups of people and saran-wrapping them together. Nicole and Lindsay dodged that bullet, but somehow began talking to Mikey B. After hearing about Nicole’s plans for medical school, he encouraged Jamie to introduce himself. Warding off any suitors, Lindsay spared Nicole the pain and shot Jamie down before he could introduce himself. Jamie was just as happy to walk back to the Saran wrapping, but mumbled that he was actually a doctor, not just a bystander with liquid courage. Nicole caught wind of this, stopped him in his tracks, and took advantage of the “networking opportunity.” Long story short, Jamie and Nicole got to talking, connected over common paths and interests, and……went their separate ways.

Fast forward a few months to Nicole searching through every “Jamie Miller” FaceBook profile to no avail. Her mom actually suggests that perhaps this mystery man’s last name is a different one beginning with M–“maybe Martin?” Jackpot. She had been searching the wrong last name! In the fall of 2014, Jamie and Nicole finally reconnect and agree to meet at a local DC Mexican joint, El Chucho; they bond over margaritas, guacamole, and beef tongue tacos. The rest, is history!

Nicole and Jamie had so many personal touches in their wedding. A personalized map, an aunt that played the bagpipes and they incorporated the saran wrap from their first encounter into their wedding reception! This New Orleans wedding was as fun as it was stunning. Here are a few of my favorites from their day!
