When my high school bestie got engaged, I knew it would lead to a wonderful year of celebrations and wedding-related travel. As soon as she decided on Charleston, a town I had never been to, I was on board. This was my first ever trip to this charming city and it was one to be remembered.

Bachelorette parties have evolved in the last few years. They tend to be less campy and more of a reason to relax and getaway with girlfriends. Bachelorette photography has also grown. In the age where everything is Instagrammable, brides have elected to start hiring photographers for more than just their big day! Rehearsal dinners, engagement parties, bridal showers and even honeymoons are all now fair game in the photography industry. Lara’s bachelorette fete is a look into what to expect from 2017 bridal vacations. When the owner of Gala Tuesday, a company that supplies stunningly curated party boxes, is getting hitched, you know that her bachelorette party is going to be equipped with all the fixins for a southern inspired soirée! Lara Jones planned her Charming Charleston bachelorette for Labor Day weekend and invited five girls to explore the wonderful South Carolina coast. Before arriving, we were given jobs titles to have the trip run smoothly:
Décor Diva — Responsible for selecting and ordering/gathering decor fitting of the theme — Southern Charm/Pink & Mint — etc
Snack Queen — Responsible for providing beverages, snacks, utensils, etc
Research Maven — Responsible for researching restaurants & making reservations; researching bars/lounges & notifying them of the Bachelorette Party to see if we can get any special perks, etc. Also responsible for putting together the playlist for the weekend (Lara provided instruction on bands/songs/genres…)
Chic Chef — Responsible for planning Monday morning’s breakfast/brunch at the condo — selecting menu items, putting together shopping list, leading the cooking efforts, etc
As Research Maven, I was tasked with planning most of our outings. Here is the list of suggestions I was given by a number of locals:
Best Brunch Places– Rarebit, Grand Bohemian, Toast, Poogans Porch
Daytime Activities– Market Walk Battery, King Street Shopping, Bay St. Biergarten (Brewery), The Alley (Boozy Bowling), Beach, Home Team, Poes
Dinner– Stars, 5 Church, O-Ku, Barsa, Hanks Seafood, Magnolias, Pearlz, The Ordinary, Taco Boy
Out– Market Pavilion, Rooftop, Fish, Cocktail Club, Prohibition, Stars Rooftop Pavilion , Warehouse
If We Want to Dance- Republic or Trio

I devised a full itinerary based on the suggestions above and the weekend got underway! As the girls arrived, they were greeted with goodie bags complete with canned champagne, matching Lilly tunics and flamingo drink floaties all inside a Sixspence Press tote! They donned the Flagler tunics with the hand crafted beach hats and headed straight to Folly Beach! After an afternoon relaxing in the sun, the girls got ready for dinner at 5Church and took fun portraits with the bride. The next day was adventure packed. Brunch began at Poogan’s Porch and was followed by shopping on King Street and wandering Magnolia Plantation. The evening ended with dinner at the aptly named Magnolia restaurant. The weekend winded down with a DIY pajama brunch accompanied by 90s girl jams. This well-documented weekend in “Laradise” is the perfect blueprint to your all girls’ weekend.
Here is our exact itinerary if you want to have your very own Laradise weekend:
