Katie and Jake met on a Saturday night out in Arlington. They were out enjoying their lives at a bar when Katie mentioned that she was chilly. This seemingly handsome stranger offered her his jacket and the rest was history! Katie and Jake dated long distance throughout Jake’s military commitment. Katie would send him care packages, they would chat on the phone almost daily and she even went to visit him while he was stationed in Korea!

What a bombshell couple these two are!! Diane is actually Ben’s best friend’s little sister! I have known the Mechners since Ben and I started dating so this was a blast to finally meet Diane and Cam in person! These two met at Robinson (when they were 10 years old!) and started dating in their high school years. Cam actually asked her to homecoming by decorating her mininvan in the Robinson parking lot. They then went to college across the country from one another, him at USC and her at UVA, but they managed to make the distance work. Like a true romantic, Cam proposed to Diane in the same parking lot in the same manner he asked her to homecoming all those years ago: he decorated her car with a very different question- ‘Will you marry me?’

I met Katie about 3 years back through an amazing mutual friend: Jess Perry. As with a great number of my friendships, swimming is involved. Katie grew up in New England swimming as did my former college roommate so it only stood to reason that once Jess got engaged, all of her worlds would collide. Katie and I became fast friends through that year and I always seemed to run into her an Bryan at weddings! After the two met at Tuck business school and dated for the years after, everyone would say “When are you two getting engaged?”

This editorial is super close to my heart. The idea behind these images is inclusivity, sisterhood and authenticity. This project was planned, styled and executed by a team of women wedding professionals in the DC area. Our experiences in the wedding industry and the venue inspired our vision.

Can you imagine a better setting than the Anderson House for a DC Wedding? While the District of Columbia has some stunning wedding venues, the Society of the Cincinnati has it all: an elegant European vibe with some stunning outdoor spaces. The newly painted black doors make for a classic portrait backdrop and the pool patio area is a perfect setting for a cocktail hour or some small personal vows.

There are few proposal stories as sweet as Emily and John’s. John created a whole weekend, complete with a formal paper invitation, for their engagement weekend! he whisked her away to the Inn at Little Washington complete with tickets to a show, dinner and a proposal to boot! Emily even brought his adorable invite and tickets for me to photograph.

Regina and Young wanted a casual session at the Tidal Basin to celebrate their engagement. They felt jeans and a bike ride really expressed who they are as a couple! Young goes on frequent rides with his biking group and he and Regina go on rides together on their ti-bikes on the weekends! It was super clear how natural and at ease these two felt around each other.

Becky and David… what a pair. David and I go way back to the Teach for America days so it was an extremely unique pleasure to see this gregarious groom take the sweetest bride of all time as his wife! These two planned the most quintessential DC wedding. Getting ready at the Phoenix Park Hotel, portraits at Union Station and nuptials overlooking the Capitol Building at Capitol View 400.

I have ALWAYS wanted to shoot at Federal Triangle!! I am so so happy that Ritzy and Koji jumped on board with my vision! We both have the same taste in cityscapes and love all things french. We began our morning at Lincoln and ended in the middle of DC for from European inspired backdrops. Cafe inspired engagement photos? Yes please!

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE my couples?! Allison and Dave are probably among the goofiest pair out there… well ok, maybe just Dave is the goofiest. From the minute I started working with these two, I have had a blast. Allison is a type A planner like me but these two still managed to seem go-with-the-flow surrounding wedding day things. The last minute rain plan switch was an easy breezy decision that really looked like Plan A!
