When a couple values film as much as I do, you know I can’t help but nerd out and go a little crazy with film. I posted Ashley & Colton’s digital images from their engagement session last month but just one post wasn’t enough! I shot these images on a mix of medium format film and 35mm film.

This winter, I traveled to Austin Texas to with Brett Denfeld to capture the wedding of Maddie and Luke. These two love birds were supposed to tie the knot outside but Austin had other plans! It was crazy cold and rainy on their wedding day but that didn’t steal any joy from these kids! Maddie and Luke still were beaming from ear to ear all day long and a stunning wedding at the incredible Star Hill Ranch!

I have been dying to shoot at Sekrit Theater for years now! I have a huge crush on glass conservatories so when I found out that I would be traveling to Texas for a wedding, I knew it was my chance to go and see this venue for myself! Katie and Michael were such champs during our chilly morning session!

A lot of people ask me why I planned a 2 week road trip around Texas. Well, every year, I make a list of wedding venues I want to photograph all around the world… It just so happened that a large majority of those happen to be in Texas! Go figure! I got to shoot at 3 stunning venues that I’ve been dreaming about forever and eat all the Tex-Mex I could stomach. Below is my Texas road trip itinerary for inquiring minds!

Ashley and Colton are about the sweetest pair you’ll ever meet. These two are actually tying the knot on a cruise with friends and family this year! Because they will have a very low key wedding with a smaller amount of photos than a traditional big Texas wedding, they decided to go classic with an engagement session at The White Sparrow Barn in Quinlan Texas.

This wedding was YEARS in the making. Jessie and I have known each other for years; we swam for rival colleges (me Duke, her NC State) but our teams had one thing in common: we both hated UNC. Beyond that, Jessie and I found that we had HEAPS in common. In between He’s Not adventures and swim meets we found that we were freakily similar. Style twins, teachers at heart and in general just love to have a good time with our friends. After college, we stayed in touch chatting about TFA stuff and when she got engaged, I was likely the first person to freak out on social media.

Sometimes when you meet certain people, you just click. I met Brianne though INSTAGRAM. Yes, that’s right people. I made a real human friend through social media. It can be done! We had so much in common that we weirdly just started talking on IG. We come from divorced families, like to dye our hair, love Star Wars & cats and are avid photographers of tattooed beauties. We both even did photo projects that involved the darker side of Disney in our younger years. The list goes on and on. When I was flying to Houston for an engagement session, I knew we had to meet up. We ended up snapping some portraits and going for beers after…. for 5 hours. Happy I found my twin in halfway across the country!
