These two have been together for over 5 years! Can you believe it!? Brian ended up proposing while the couple was beach vacationing and it was an easy YES for Rachel! After many years and fun adventures together, these two are planning an elegant Great Marsh wedding for next May! I can’t wait to see their Just Married smiles on their perfect spring day! These two have a very cool history. They actually met online but come to find out, their families are from the same small town in India and their grandfathers used to be NEXT DOOR NEIGHBORS. How crazy is that!? I can’t believe that these two would find one another hundreds of miles away decades after their families knew one another. I think it’s safe to say that fate stepped in here.

Christina and Shaun messaged me about snapping their engagement photos this summer. The two actually live in Chicago (where they got engaged) but their love story began in DC. They had their first date at Cylde’s in the district and their love story grew, eventually leading them to their life together in Illinois. Shaun proposed the day before her birthday over dinner before meeting a bunch of their close friends to celebrate.

Christina contacted me this spring to do anniversary photos while her and her husband were on vacation in DC. This was be a very special 8 year anniversary trip because it was be their first trip ever away from their 16 month old daughter! The two flew from Michigan for some sunshine and DC eats before our sunrise session at Jefferson and Lincoln memorials.

Is it October yet?! Aidan and Greg are my first clients to book me less than 4 months before wedding day! It’s actually very fitting with their personalities. These two value love and none of the pomp and circumstance that surrounds wedding day. They are having a small ceremony at the Josephine Butler Center which they want to feel more like a casual party & cocktail hour with friends. This may be the first time I will not be documenting getting ready or detail shots on wedding day!

When you meet and fall in love working on the hill, it stands to reason that you take your engagement photos in front of the Capitol! Leti and Stephen actually met while working in this very building. Their friendship/working relationship turned to romance once they changed jobs and the rest is history! We decided to hit the mall at sunrise to get some glowy DC light and boy am I glad we did!

I learn so much about human relationships by photographing anniversary sessions. Because I shoot mostly weddings and engagements, I most often see couples at the beginning stages of their relationship. Anniversary sessions have shown me that I love getting to see more seasoned couples into a few years of their marriage. The way they interact, talk about their lives now and the things that fill their lives are so different.

If I could use one word to describe Ashley and Eric it would be ‘chic’. These two have insane style and chemistry. Eric is a walking J.Crew add (complete with glasses optional ensembles) and Ashley could be a fashion blogger/social media icon. This stunning pair decided on the Jefferson Monument at sunrise and Old Town Alexandria as their second location. I just love the summer light in the morning time.

Can you imagine a better setting than the Anderson House for a DC Wedding? While the District of Columbia has some stunning wedding venues, the Society of the Cincinnati has it all: an elegant European vibe with some stunning outdoor spaces. The newly painted black doors make for a classic portrait backdrop and the pool patio area is a perfect setting for a cocktail hour or some small personal vows.
