So you’re thinking of proposing… CONGRATULATIONS! What a huge moment. We’re here to help make it absolutely perfect. Perhaps you know exactly what you’d like to do and just want a few images to capture the moment. Or maybe you don’t know how to make sure your partner doesn’t suspect a thing but want to really make it a show-stopping event. Whatever you have planned (or need help planning) we have you covered. Below are our favorite places to propose in DC!

1. MONUMENTS

If you’re looking for a classic proposal spot, this is it. Lincoln memorial or Jefferson Memorial have great views. The best time for these is sunrise if you can avoid suspicion!

2. JOHN F. KENNEDY CENTER

The Kennedy Center has a great view of Georgetown. The back balcony is usually not very crowded and the REACH space is lovely!

3. GEORGETOWN

There are 3 distinct areas of Georgetown that are beautiful: the waterfront, surrounding neighborhoods and the campus. Depending on your vibe, all 3 are stunning.

4. MERIDIAN HILL PARK

This public park has lovely spots! The main fountain is arresting and the statue area is lovely as well!

5. NATIONAL CATHEDRAL GARDENS

There are few places I love more in the city. This location does require a permit fee (as does the arboretum)!

6. SMITHSONIAN GARDENS

Also known as the Enid A Haupt Garden, this spot is a secret gem. Great views and garden vibes. Magnolias bloom here in the spring!

7. CAPITOL BUILDING

The Library of Congress side of the Capitol building is an ideal setting. The Supreme Court and the library are also stunning backdrops!

8. UNION STATION

Union station is a great rain plan! It’s always covered and has beautiful architecture!

9. PARKS!

There are so many beautiful parks in DC. Rock Creek, Dumbarton, Roosevelt Island and even Haines Point. If you’re a nature lover, this might be for you! Constitution Gardens are also a mix of monuments and nature.

10. HOTELS OR A FAVORITE RESTAURANT

Certain hotels are stunning for a proposal. The Hay Adams has an amazing rooftop. The Line is chic and fun. The Willard, Mayflower, Fairmont and Ritz are all jaw droppingly gorgeous. You can even pick a chic DC Restaurant like Le Diplomate, District Winery or Riggs Cafe!

There you have it! I hope this was inspiring! Reach out for more DC Proposal planning tips!
