So you’re thinking of proposing… CONGRATULATIONS! What a huge moment. We’re here to help make it absolutely perfect. Perhaps you know exactly what you’d like to do and just want a few images to capture the moment. Or maybe you don’t know how to make sure your partner doesn’t suspect a thing but want to really make it a show-stopping event. Whatever you have planned (or need help planning) we have you covered. Check out these proposal tips for popping the question in DC!

Tip 1: Make it Meaningful

So you’re thinking of proposing… CONGRATULATIONS! What a huge moment. We’re here to help make it absolutely perfect. Perhaps you know exactly what you’d like to do and just want a few images to capture the moment. Or maybe you don’t know how to make sure your partner doesn’t suspect a thing but want to really make it a show-stopping event. Whatever you have planned (or need help planning) we have you covered.

Tip #2: Considering hiring a professional

Hiring a professional photographer is a great idea! You’ll treasure this moment for years to come and it makes a great gift for your partner and both families. You can also hire a planner to give your proposal an extra wow (flowers, catered dinner, a videographer and more). You can check out DC Proposals for photo and planning needs!

Tip #3: Plan to dress up

If you want your partner to love the photos, perhaps plan a date night where they have to get dressed up. I have snapped tons of proposals in accidental sweatpants & athletic wear.

Tip #4: For the best photos, think about angles & lighting

If you’re looking for the best photo, try to face one another for a side angle to get both the reaction and the knee silhouette. The best lighting is sunset or sunrise! If you can pull off sunrise without arousing suspicions, that is ideal for less tourists at the monuments!

Tip #5: Perhaps include friends or family

You might go the traditional route and ask for permission or you might even have family waiting to surprise them after you ask! Either way, including friends and/or family is always a big win.

Tip #6: Have a backup plan

Things don’t always go according to plan. There might be rain or road closures on your proposal day. Don’t sweat it! If you have a backup plan, you’ll feel a lot more at ease.

There you have it folks! Whatever your vision, I hope it ends with a hearty “YES!” Feel free to reach out with more questions for further planning!
