It has always been a dream of mine to photograph a couple in love in the National Parks and Zion is the mother-load. When you drive into the canyon, you can’t help but be in awe; my jaw literally dropped. The first day we were in Zion, we hiked Angels Landing. There are hundreds of mini hikes to do in this national park but we decided on Overlook Trail to snap these stunning images.

Zion National Park Engagement | Utah Wedding Photographer | McKenzi and Joey

It’s difficult to describe how much I loved this session. Morgan and Brent were just the most darling couple you have ever met. None of us had ever been to Horseshoe Bend so it was an experience for all of us! As we walked up to the overlook, we chatted about travel, relationships and photography: all of my favorite things. I found that these two had met through church and Brent proposed at their favorite sand dunes in their hometown! They definitely both embody young love and are such a fun, adventurous couple. In fact, Brent has been to all 50 states!

Let’s talk about color. A lot of brides start wedding planning with a single color. A whole day can be built around a theme or “color story”. Many brides select the same color again and again making them a classic. Navy and blush, for example, are wedding classics because they deliver clean beauty time and time again. However, new brides are starting to stray from tradition. Sequins, florals and mixing shades are the new trend in bridal!

Details are such an important part of your wedding. Even if you don’t plan them as part of your photo story, there are little things you have probably been dreaming of including in your wedding. Some people naturally know what every detail of their wedding will look like: the invitations, the flowers, the jewelry etc. But other brides (like yours truly) need some inspiration from others from time to time.

Arizona Elopement Inspiration | Nikki & Chris

This was by far the best portrait session of my life. Not only was the weather and lighting to die for but Dylan and McKenzie were sheer perfection. I loved everything about this couple and this style. The dress was perfect for flowing movement pictures and truth be told, my own husband is growing a man bun so you can’t imagine how much I loved Dylan’s style.

One major thing you should know about me is that I love cacti. I have multiple articles of clothing with cactus prints, I had succulent name cards at my wedding and I traveled all the way to Arizona to make dang sure I got bridal portraits with cactus. Thanks to Ashley Knolla, that dream came true.

Well, it’s time folks! I finally get to share my bridal portraits from Arizona. In every career, I think it is wildly important to spend time learning and practicing your craft. I flew out to Arizona this month to do just that. While in this magical state, I got to capture some amazing western landscape inspired wedding portraits, snap a sweet couple in the desert, listen to some incredible speakers in my field and share with other photographers.
