Jenna and JJ were introduced by mutual friends. They met at a concert in DC but almost like an episode of How I Met Your Mother, JJ ended up on TWO blind dates at once! He had to run up and down the flights of stairs at the club to entertain two set-ups from different groups of friends that unbeknownst to him, unintentionally fell on the same evening! What are the odds!

These two have a very cool history. They actually met online but come to find out, their families are from the same small town in India and their grandfathers used to be NEXT DOOR NEIGHBORS. How crazy is that!? I can’t believe that these two would find one another hundreds of miles away decades after their families knew one another. I think it’s safe to say that fate stepped in here.

When you meet and fall in love working on the hill, it stands to reason that you take your engagement photos in front of the Capitol! Leti and Stephen actually met while working in this very building. Their friendship/working relationship turned to romance once they changed jobs and the rest is history! We decided to hit the mall at sunrise to get some glowy DC light and boy am I glad we did!

I learn so much about human relationships by photographing anniversary sessions. Because I shoot mostly weddings and engagements, I most often see couples at the beginning stages of their relationship. Anniversary sessions have shown me that I love getting to see more seasoned couples into a few years of their marriage. The way they interact, talk about their lives now and the things that fill their lives are so different.

This editorial is super close to my heart. The idea behind these images is inclusivity, sisterhood and authenticity. This project was planned, styled and executed by a team of women wedding professionals in the DC area. Our experiences in the wedding industry and the venue inspired our vision.

Can you imagine a better setting than the Anderson House for a DC Wedding? While the District of Columbia has some stunning wedding venues, the Society of the Cincinnati has it all: an elegant European vibe with some stunning outdoor spaces. The newly painted black doors make for a classic portrait backdrop and the pool patio area is a perfect setting for a cocktail hour or some small personal vows.

Not only is this engagement a personal favorite because of the location but it’s also a favorite because MY GAL PAL KATIE IS ENGAGED! I met Katie almost 4 years ago when I was running around my apartment complex. She was walking her dog Windsor and I just had to stop and say hello. After a few chance encounters, we found that we had heaps in common: we love dance parties, photography and we’re both in education. As two girls in their twenties tend to do, we started watching the Bachelor together every Monday! Although she moved from the neighborhood, we kept our Monday night tradition and stayed friends through the stressors of building our businesses and figuring out life in DC.
