It is hard for me as a wedding professional to have “favorites”. I love each of my clients so much and each wedding is unique and beautiful to me. But when your college roommate and best friend of over a decade gets married, it’s very difficult not to use the word favorite. I knew this day would be stunning based on the many conversations and Pinterest exchanges I had with Katie before the wedding. I also got the chance to fly out to California to spend some time with Matthias and Katie as a couple before shooting their Northern California wedding. We got to go shopping, play with their adorable pup Scout and of course snap a few engagement pictures in the process. These two are electric on camera and even better to just hang out with over a bottle of wine and a homemade pizza. Katie and Matthias met online while Katie was working abroad in Germany after college. I am now the firmest believer in the school of thought that if you want to speak a foreign language fluently, you get yourself a cute foreign boyfriend. Needless to say, Katie’s German is quite fluent. Best California Wedding Photographer Kir Tuben

This colorful California wedding was made even better by the stunning design, amazing weather and fantastic team that put together a real experience for these guests. Many of Katie and Matthias’ friends are German and have never attended a big American wedding. many of them told me is was ‘just like the movies’ while sipping an Aperol Spritz (the bride’s signature cocktail). Katie got ready at Enchante Hotel while we listened to fun music and ate a fresh breakfast of mostly local fruit which I used to style the invitation! The gals then walked over to the Los Altos History museum for some portraits and hang time. The guys played corn-hole, some for the first time, and relaxed before the ceremony begun. The tree where they tied the knot was adorned in fresh blooms and each wrote personal vows, complete with German pet-names, in a moving intimate ceremony. We spent a few moment taking film photographs and sneaking out to drive around in the vintage get-away car Matthias had rented and driven to the venue. The couple was toasted while the guests all ate dinner Al Fresco. The night ended with a pretzel bar in a nod to their German beginning and a bubble exit. Here are the mostly film images that tell the story of their day. On a personal note to the couple: while I have known Katie for what seems like forever, I know Matthias is now a lifelong friend who I welcome with so much love and respect for now being the one to make sure Katie gets to appointments on time. 😉 I love you both so much.
