Lately, I have been getting a lot of inquiries for Lifestyle sessions. While I focus primarily on weddings and engagements, I will make certain exceptions (mainly for past clients and friends) and delve into the world of family and lifestyle photography. I wanted to create this resource for my clients to explain the kind of photography I do and do not do when it comes to these sessions! Now, it’s not often I do maternity sessions, but when my sister-in-law is expecting, I can’t say no! Jenni is my sister by marriage but she would totally be my sister by choice. Not only did we both marry Tuben men but we also have the same taste in food, weddings and are crazy cat ladies together! We got to know each other during her wedding planning process a few years back. Their initial plan was to tie the knot on the very property we took these photos on! Since the rain changed their plans, we headed out to her grandmother’s property in Marshall, Virginia to take the portraits Jenni always wanted!

It’s SUPER rare for me to snap an in home session like this one but I couldn’t say no to Adleigh and Chace! I reserve family sessions for past clients and I just KNEW this one would be an instant favorite of mine. Adleigh and I are style twins; we have a mutual love of blush, Lulus and blogger Amber Fillerup! Her nursery stepped out of my dreams! If Ben and I ever venture into this stage of life, Adleigh will be my first call for home design tips!

Bam. Have you ever seen someone so stunning in their nickers? I haven’t! Ellese and I planned a little boudoir session as a wedding gift for Dave while we were visiting Tulum and she was kind enough to let me share them on the blog. How lucky am I?! The inspiration for this shoot was natural bohemian-chic. We agreed that we wanted to accent Ellese’s natural features by minimizing makeup, hair and any kind of retouching.

I’ve known Lara since our high school, Freshman year Biology class. That was almost 15 years ago!! It is surreal for me that I am actually posting these photos. So much time has passed and our friendship has stayed just as strong ever since we were teenagers. I am beaming from ear to ear for her and Louis as they expect their first child: baby girl Olivia.

Let’s talk about boudoir. Boudoir is a genre of photography that has a special place in my heart. Mostly because it is an art form about female empowerment that takes a high level of skill, empathy and understanding. A bad boudoir shoot can look like porn and make a woman feel self-conscious. A well-executed, styled boudoir session can make you feel invincible and sexy as hell.

This is a radical departure from 99% of the work that I tend to shoot. I have devoted my business to mostly weddings but every once in a while I like to do a passion project that keeps me creative and having fun. In my life, building up other women entrepreneurs is something I am super passionate about and I particularly love women with a hilarious sense of humor.
