While I focus primarily on weddings and engagements, I will make certain exceptions (mainly for past clients and friends) and delve into the world of family and lifestyle photography. You may not believe it but this is the SECOND puppy announcement shoot I have done in my career. Some might think that hiring a professional photographer for your pet is “extra” but actually I think it celebrates some of the best moments in your everyday life! Pets (especially doggos) become such a huge part of your family that I think it is sweet to commemorate their childhood with some quality images!

Tory & Isaac met through mutual friends who stood by their sides as best man and matron of honor at their July wedding at the DC Arts Club. Their intimate city wedding was supposed to be nothing but rain all day but all we saw were tiny droplets here and there. It barely sprinkled on our Lincoln memorial parade as we walked with clear umbrellas in hand.

Ah yes, the age-old question: Do I need a wedding planner? The answer is an overwhelming YES. What most brides don’t realize is that, no matter what, you will have a wedding planner. If you don’t hire a professional, this job will either fall to you, your photographer, your mother, or a team of drunken bridesmaids. This is not to say that any of these people can do this job or are in the least bit qualified for it… but one way or another, your wedding will go on. Whether you want it to run smoothly without stress is up to you.

When Kathy sent me inspiration photos for this shoot, I happily referred her to studio photographers in the area. Kathy would not take “I don’t shoot studio” for an answer and oh, man am I so happy she didn’t! I LOVE trying new forms of photography and am thrilled that she put her trust in me to nail this studio session.

This couple definitely affirms that I have finally reached my ideal client. Stef and Mark are basically the exact people I would choose to photograph all day long. They’re goofy, super in love and have two cats. What more could you ask for!? When planning their engagement session, we considered a bunch of locations but eventually settled on Bear’s Den.

This shoot has been in my mind for years now. Ben and I considered having a Halloween wedding where all guests must come in costume! Since his brother got hitched in October, we decided on a traditional spring wedding. But what are styled shoots if not a fictional wedding you wish you had?!
