It is time to address something that has been bothering me: humans of Facebook that do not know how to set their profile image correctly. I know, this is a small, seemingly meaningless thing. But when you’re a professional photographer and a client puts up a cut off wedding image as their photo, it hurts my heart. Don’t get me wrong, I am FLATTERED that you wish to use my image. Most of my business is run off of social media. But when the image is only half displayed, that does not showcase the work properly! Below, I am going to show you how to best set your profile image!

Today I want to talk about something that changed the way I shoot weddings: a styling board. When I first realized I could bring my own props to weddings to make styling details a cinch, it blew my MIND. Why wasn’t I doing this sooner?! I now travel with envelopes, stamps, Mrs. Boxes and ribbon to every wedding I shoot. But what makes it all come together is a Styling Board.

Getting ready photos are some of my favorite shots of the day so I was pretty nervous when I was deciding what to wear. Since we got married on a farm, I decided that denim monogrammed shirts would be the most fitting! Not only do I love to photograph wedding day, I love to be a part of them. I am somewhat of a wedding junkie. I ADORE all things marriage. On my weekends off, I am often times attending a wedding as a guest or bridesmaid. Recently, my life has been resembling 27 Dresses (I guess Ben looks a little like James Marsden haha) and I LOVE it! Being on the other side of a lens is such a great learning experience and definitely informs how I shoot a bridal party!

Every year, I have couples request photos in the cherry blossoms. And rightfully so! Ben and I even did our engagement photos with cherry blossoms! However.. tourists are swarming, even at sunrise! The Tidal Basin can be nuts. Because everyone wants their spring blooms without hundreds of people swarming, I have compiled a list of alternative photo locations that still allow for maximum blossoms but minimal people.
